Ask Your Doctor

Start By Talking to Your Child’s Pediatrician

Starting the Conversation

If you have concerns about your child’s growth don’t hesitate to let your pediatrician know. Here are some questions you can ask:

* How does my child’s growth compare to other children of the same age?
* Are you concerned that my child may have a growth problem?
* Do you have other patients with growth problems? How have they been treated?
* Can you recommend a pediatric endocrinologist?

Next Steps for You and Your Child

If your child does appear to have a growth problem, your pediatrician may refer you to a pediatric endocrinologist. A pediatric endocrinologist specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders that are related to hormones and the glands that make them, as well as the effects they can have on the body.
